A session with someone who understands
We offer a free counselling session with a professional to the families we serve. It is a private, unhurried conversation, a space to say the things that are hard to say to family, and to be heard by someone whose job is to listen.
Grief is not a problem to be fixed. It is love with nowhere to go. Talking to someone trained does not take it away, but it can make the weight easier to carry, and it can help when sleep, appetite or getting through the day become difficult.
What a session looks like
There is nothing to prepare and nothing you have to say. You sit with a counsellor, in private, and talk as much or as little as you want to. Some people come with a lot to let out; others just want to sit with someone who will not rush them. Both are fine. Nothing you say leaves the room.
When grief gets heavy
It is normal to feel numb, angry, exhausted or unable to concentrate for a while. It is worth reaching out sooner rather than later if the heaviness does not lift at all over time, if you cannot sleep or eat for long stretches, or if you find yourself unable to face daily life. Asking for help early is a strength, not a weakness.
Who it is for, including children
It is for whoever in the family needs it, a spouse, a parent, a child, whoever is struggling most. Children grieve too, often in ways adults miss, and we can arrange support suited to them. We can set up the session soon after the funeral, or later when the quiet sets in and the visitors have gone.
There is no wrong time to reach out
Some families want to talk in the first raw days; others find the hardest time comes weeks later, once the visitors have gone and the house is quiet. Both are normal. The offer does not expire, reach out whenever the need is there, even if the funeral was a while ago.
How we help
Ask us, at any point, and we will arrange the session. There is no cost and no pressure. If more support is needed than one session can give, we will help you find it.
